Elementary Maker Space Ideas To Get You Started
* Take on "Destination Imagination Challenge" with your class!
* Use recycled or upcycled materials to design and create a new toy!
* The Lifelong Kindergarten Group at MIT designed a computer program that shows children how to write their names on the screen using code, and animate them using Scratch! There are over three million projects to choose from.
* Using ramps, wheels, and switchbacks, build a marble wall! Design challenges amp up the fun while teaching elementary students simple machines and physics.
* Using a stop-motion animation tool, like LEGO Moviemaker, merge physical toys with digital play!
(Here is an example of a stop-motion film a student created on the rock cycle: granite.m4v )
* Instructables: A great resource for "how to" do/make/build/create anything! After students complete a project, have them create their own "Instructables" to share with others.
